I have a very sensitive skin and react to almost every skin cream I apply. Should I try Dermasoft products?
Dermasoft products are formulated to be as kind to sensitive skins as we can make them and often they can be used by those people who are allergic to other creams and lotions.
We do strongly recommend however, that if you have previously suffered allergic reactions to creams or lotions, then you conduct a patch test for any new product you wish to try.
Simply, this means when using a product for the first time whether it is a bath oil, moisturiser, cleanser or a shampoo, then apply a little of the product to an area of the skin about the size of a ten cent piece. If the skin is sensitive, it will normally react with redness within two to three hours. Do this patch test two or three times over a period of 24 hours to be sure.

I have been a long term sufferer of eczema and wonder if Dermasoft products can help me?
There is no magical cure for eczema or dermatitis. Often, a good and regular programme of skin acre maintenance will provide considerable relief from these skin conditions.

Dermasoft skin care products are less expensive than some other products I have used. Are they of the same quality?
Yes. Dermasoft products are of the highest quality. We work with two of the most respected skin care manufacturing companies in New Zealand. They in turn help us to formulate and manufacture all of the Dermasoft products currently available.

Are Dermasoft skin Care products suitable for infants?
Yes. Because they are so mild, in most cases they are ideal for infant care. Dermasoft moisturisers will help with everyday dry skin conditions, eczema, cradle cap and nappy rash*, and also following chicken pox and measles.
*Important Note: In cases of nappy rash, apply only to unbroken skin - if the skin is broken you will need to use a medicated product.

I have a very dry, flaky and itchy skin. I use a moisturiser but do I need to use another product to relieve the itching?
Not necessarily. Dermasoft Sorbolene cream and Dermasoft Lotion both contain an ant-itching (antipruritic) ingredient. This is soothing to the skin and will often stop the desire to scratch or itch the skin.

My skin reacts to many of the bathroom products I use such as soaps, shower gels and shampoos. What should I do?
We suggest you try using a quality soap Substitute and a "Soap free" Shampoo, such as Dermasoft.
We also suggest you do a "patch test" first. (see other FAQ's).

What is the difference between a "soap" product and a "non-soap" product?
Soap based products, (bars, liquids and shower and bath gels) are often very drying and can cause irritation to the skin. Because soap based products are high in alkaline value they will alter the natural pH balance of your skin. Normal healthy skin is slightly acidic with a pH of 5.0 to 6.0 and this provides a protective acid mantle, which helps to protect it from environmental damage and dryness.
Good quality Soap Substitutes or "non-soap" products will have a slightly acidic pH value. As a result they are much more gentle and less likely to cause irritation.

My three year old son suffers from very sensitive skin and eczema. I have been using products from a pharmacy but they are expensive and I can not afford to buy them all the time. What do you recommend?
Our aim is to provide the best quality and most effective products available to those who suffer from dry skin conditions, and at a price that is affordable to them. You will find that Dermasoft products are less expensive than many other comparative products.

Can I use Dermasoft products on my face?
Yes, there is no reason why you shouldn't use any Dermasoft products on the face, as they are some of the mildest formulations available.
However, because facial skin can be more sensitive than other areas, we recommend you do a "patch test" first. Also avoid contact with the eyes, as of course you would with any other product you may be using.

Can Dermasoft products be used for sun burned skin?
Yes in mild cases. Moisturisers are helpful for sunburn and Dermasoft Sorbolene cream, and Dermasoft Lotion both contain a mild soothing agent as well.
If the sunburn is moderate or severe, however, we recommend you speak to your pharmacist or health professional and seek their advice.

Are Dermasoft products tested on animals?
No, none of our products are tested on animals.

Are dermasoft products Biodegradable?
Yes they are biodegradable.
